adidas Originals and BILLY’s Rework The Gazelle
adidas Originals and Japanese retailer BILLY’s have delved into the archives of the German sports brand to revive the original model of the popular Gazelle sneaker.
Originally crafted in the mid-60s, the Gazelle is a low-profile classic that’s been adorned by a variety of subcultures. From punks and rockers, to becoming a staple on the terraces throughout the 1980s casuals scene across Europe, its adaptable look allows it to blend seamlessly.
Now BILLY’s has resurrected the original silhouette for Fall/Winter 2020, bringing it back in two classic colorways — “Forest” green and white — all on a premium leather upper, similar to one that became popular in Japan throughout the 1960s.
Completed with a translucent outsole and textured tape accent, each sneaker is available exclusively from BILLY’s online webstore, retailing at ¥13,000 (approximately $120 USD).
In other news, why not take a deeper look at the history of the Gazelle and the subcultures that influenced it?
