Hiroshi Fujiwara is rarely seen without a signature pair of dark-lensed shades, sourced from a variety of brands (including Stüssy). As such, its no surprise that the fragment design founder has reunited with Oakley for a fifth collection of collaborative eyewear, but the duo’s new collaboration goes beyond sunglasses with a set of bespoke ski goggles.
Encompassing O Frame 2.0, Fall Line and two different Frogskins frames, the collaborative assortment is launching just ahead of ski season (Fujiwara is no stranger to the snowy slopes). The Frogskins (and Frogskins XS) boast a minimalist monochrome facade, sporting black frame, tinted black lenses and co-branding across the arms. Each pair of special Frogskins will come with a unique microfiber carrying case to ward off scratches.
Meanwhile, both sets of snow goggles are a little more overt with the logos, realizing both Oakley and “fragment” text across the head-circling straps. The sleek Fall Line features dark-toned lenses, while the 2.0 iteration of the classic O Frame is updated with a brighter lens — dubbed “Persimmon” — but is also offered in neutral grey for the faint at heart.
Oakley’s Shibuya outpost hosts the drop on October 31, with each model available exclusively in limited quantities. Despite the hype, however, none of the frames are prohibitively expensive; the Frogskins retail for ￥19,200 JPY (approximately $180 USD, or $80 USD more than normal models), the XS for ￥17,400 JPY (approximately $165 USD), the O Frame 2.0 for ￥12,700JPY (approximately $120 USD) and the Fall Line for ￥21,700 JPY (approximately $210 USD).
Covetable collaborative eyewear is in ample supply these days, it seems, as French eyewear imprint Thierry Lasry has issued a series of co-branded frames with famed French football club Paris Saint-Germain.
