Meghan Markle, 41, has beaten Grace Kelly’s granddaughter Charlotte Casiraghi, 36, with the number of tags on Instagram highlighting their style. However, neither of these two royal women received the top spot as the “most popular royal beauty on Instagram”.
Research commissioned by Casino Top 10 went on Instagram and found out who the most popular and talked about Duchesses, Princesses, and Queens are from around the world.
An expert from the company told Express.co.uk: “Kate Middleton tops the list, with a staggering 14,881,379 tags. The Princess of Wales is a role model for many, a title which was just made official, as she was voted Top Female Role Model in a recent national poll.”
The Princess of Wales is certainly a fashion role model with many admiring her impact on the style industry, known as the ‘Kate effect’.
Kate has 41,800 average monthly searches made globally for her fashion, according to a study conducted by fabric experts Dalston Mill Fabrics.
When broken down, the search term “Kate Middleton fashion” is searched 9,500 times each month around the world as is the term “Kate Middleton style” which is searched 15,000 times monthly.
Her most iconic fashion looks include her Alexander McQueen wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton, her Jenny Packham gold shimmery dress she wore to the James Bond No Time To Die film premiere in 2021, and her numerous stylish gowns she brought to the Caribbean in March 2022 for her royal tour with Prince William.
The Princess is renowned for being very thrifty, often seen re-wearing outfits on royal engagements, such as her Alexander McQueen lilac dress which she re-wore at the Earthshot Awards in 2021, after originally wearing it a decade earlier in 2011.
The expert continued: “In second place is Meghan Markle, who has 1,270,360 tags. Another style icon, after stepping out from the spotlight, she has had major success with her podcast Archetypes, where she and her guests subvert stereotypes about women.”
From a Hollywood star to a senior royal, to now currently being a global influencer, Meghan has become renowned for her stunning, sleek and sophisticated looks, capturing the hearts of trend followers in the UK and overseas in America.
One of the Duchess of Sussex’s outfits alone this year is estimated to cost just under £4.24million. This was when Meghan wore a stunning blue Christopher John Rogers gown for the 53rd NAACP Image Awards.
The beautiful bespoke custom design gown was created in an off-the-shoulder design from blue-ombre silk chiffon, forming a stunning silhouette. Meghan accessorised her gown with Crystal-embellished Aquazzura leather-heeled sandals and Crumpled Metal 14K Gold-Plated Post Earrings by Alex Bittar.
For some extra glamour, Meghan wore a Cartier ‘Love’ bangle, her engagement ring on one hand and a Lorraine Schwartz Diamond Ring, said to be an eternity ring from Prince Harry on the other.
The Duchess, since moving back to America in 2020, has been seen wearing outfits she would normally shun as a working royal, such as shorts and sleeveless jumpsuits that she’s seen wearing walking around Montecito.
The style expert shared who came in third place after Kate and Meghan. They added: “Charlotte Casiraghi is in third place, with 59,991 tags.
“Although she is 11th in line for the throne and is the daughter of Caroline, Princess of Hanover through marriage, Charlotte does not officially hold the title of a Princess. Apart from being a model, she is a humanitarian, journalist, writer, and a film producer.”
Charlotte likely inherited her polished sense of style from her mother, Princess Caroline of Hanover, and her grandmother, Grace Kelly.
She made her society debut at Monaco’s Rose Ball in 2006, wearing a catwalk-fresh Chanel couture outfit, and subsequently formed close connections with the world’s most renowned fashion brands.
For her wedding celebrations in 2019 when she tied the knot with Dimitri Rassam, Charlotte wore a Saint Laurent mini dress for a civil ceremony in Monaco, followed by a Chanel couture gown for the evening festivities.
At a second, more lavish wedding party in the south of France, the bride wore a Giambattista Valli couture gown.
Charlotte is a proud owner of some of the most enviable Chanel outfits, as she is often seen wearing at least one garment from the French fashion house when she’s photographed out and about.
