However, Princess Beatrice did make a nod of sorts to Kate Middleton on the day.

Many aspects of the wedding followed the traditional “something borrowed” adage.

Beatrice wore a second hand wedding dress, borrowed for the Queen herself.

The Norman Hartwell dress has tweaked for the day with sleeves added.

Beatrice wore the same tiara the Queen wore on her wedding to Prince Philip, which has only been worn since by her daughter, Beatrice’s aunt, Princess Anne.

Another, more hidden, aspect of the bride’s look was recycled too.

Beatrice wore a pair of Valentino heels in a champagne hue.

She has worn them a number of times before.

Most notably the Princess wore the shoes to Kate Middleton’s wedding to Prince William in 2011.

The shoes are actually a bespoke pair and have been signed by the designer.

Valentino shoes tend to cost in the region of £650.

Princess Beatrice’s wedding flowers also appeared to hold a secret message about “patience”.

  • Kate Middleton uses a very subtle sign of anxiety as a trick

It would have been an apt detail, as Princess Beatrice was forced to postpone her wedding due to the pandemic.

The designer of the bouquet, Patrice Van Helden Oakes, said: “They wanted to keep it natural, with dusky pink roses, British flowers and a vintage look.”

Flowers tend to have certain meanings they symbolise, especially when used in important moments like a wedding.

Astilbe, an element in Beatrice’s bouquet represents patience and dedication because is blooms for a long time, signifying long lasting love.

Princess Beatrice’s wedding was far from the norm given the exceptional circumstances of the virus.

A body language expert compared Beatrice’s wedding to Meghan Markle’s.

The body language expert claimed the usually tactile Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s loved-up displays were dampened by the furore around their big day.

She said: “Even Harry and Meghan were forced to be less tactile than usual on their wedding day.”
