Royal Family latest news – Kate to heal rift between Prince William and Prince Harry at Princess Diana statue reveal

KATE Middleton is set to help Prince William and Harry put on a united front when they unveil a statue of their late mother next week, according to a royal insider.

For only the second time since Harry's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, the brothers will reunite – this time at Kensington Palace when the Diana memorial is revealed on July 1.

/William and Harry have called a truce for the unveiling of the statue – but are said to be further apart than ever after Harry and wife Meghan made a series of stinging allegations about the Royal Family.

The Duchess of Cambridge is expected to step in and act as peacemaker between the brothers once again on what would have been Diana's 60th birthday.

A royal source told the Mirror: "The Duchess has seen this project evolve from its conception and now to the finished article and undoubtedly wants to be there to support her husband.

"No doubt there will be tensions between the Cambridges and Harry, but they all recognise that despite the obvious and deep-rooted issues between them, they want the day to be solely about the Princess of Wales’s enduring legacy."

PRINCE WILLIAM 'WENT BALLISTIC WHEN HE DISCOVERED MEGHAN MARKLE BULLY CLAIMS', BOOK SAYS

Prince William "went ballistic" after finding out about bullying claims made against Meghan Markle by Palace aides, a royal author has said.

According to historian Robert Lacey, the Duke of Cambridge was "instantly furious" after discovering a "Dossier of Distress" compiled by Kensington Palace communications chief Jason Knauf.

In the new edition of explosive book Battle of Brothers, Lacey claims staff members felt "humiliated" by the Duchess of Sussex, with Harry also allegedly criticised by aides.

One palace courtier recalled in the book: “I overheard a conversation between Harry and one of his top aides. Harry was screaming down the phone."

Lacey claims in his book that William was "appalled" by allegations and for him it allegedly clarified that "Meghan was fundamentally hostile towards the royal system".

"Prince William went ballistic when he heard the ‘dossier of distress’ that Knauf had gathered," the book says.

NEW DRAMATIC TRAILER FOR CONTROVERSIAL MOVIE SHOWS MEGHAN AND HARRY PLAN ROYAL EXIT

A new trailer for a controversial TV programme about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry & Meghan: Escaping The Palace, has been revealed.

Actress Sydney Morton, who’s playing Meghan Markle took to her Instagram page to share the first look clip– giving fans a taste of what to expect.

The trailer sees Harry, who is played by actor Jordan Dean, console Meghan and discuss her treatment at the hands of the press, saying: ‘I see you literally being hounded to death and I’m helpless to stop it.’

Meghan replies: ‘I am the person who is strong and gets things right. I can’t lose you.’

The trailer also shows the pair recreating the explosive Oprah interview, which saw Meghan claim that royal family members had ‘conversations with Harry about how dark (their son Archie’s) skin might be when he’s born’.

HOPES FOR HARRY AND MEGHAN AS QUEEN INCLUDES THEM IN MAJOR EXHIBITION ON ROYAL FAMILY

Whilst Meghan and Harry have publicly attacked the monarchy and accused unnamed relations of racism, the Queen has made it clear she holds no grudges against them.

And now a major exhibition on the Royal Family is helping to fix the relationship by making a point of including the couple.

After the claims to US presenter Oprah Winfrey, the Queen stressed that the Sussexes would always be ‘much loved family members’.

Charlotte Bolland, a senior curator at the National Portrait Gallery, suggests the inclusion seems to fit in with the Queen’s wishes that Meghan and Harry should be presented as an integral part of the family.

Ms Bolland adds: "You can see throughout the exhibition that both the monarch and their family are a key element of the structure of the monarchy in this country and [this] is reflected in the portraiture."

PRINCE WILLIAM 'NOT IMPRESSED' WITH MEGHAN AND HARRY'S 'PRIMA DONNA' ATTEMPTS TO KEEP ARCHIE'S BIRTH A SECRET

Prince William was reportedly "not impressed" with Meghan Markle and Harry's "prima donna" attempts to keep their son Archie's birth a secret.

Meghan and Harry's first child Archie was born on May 6, 2019, in London

However, William was not happy with the couple's moves to keep the birth a secret, according to Robert Lacey's book Battle of Brothers.

"William did not think too highly of Harry and Meghan’s ‘prima donna’ manoeuvres to conceal the birth of their son in May 2019," Lacey wrote.

"This impression was confirmed by the failure of William and Kate to visit the new arrival for a full eight days."

MEGHAN MARKLE AND PRINCE HARRY LEAKS 'REMAIN A PROBLEM' AS ROYALS THOUGHT OPRAH CHAT 'WOULD BE THE END OF IT', AUTHOR SAYS

It comes after Meghan and Harry's explosive interviews about the royal family "remain a problem" despite the Royal Family hoping their tell-all chat with US presenter Oprah Winfrey would mark a "fresh start", an author has claimed.

Robert Lacey, a historical consultant for Netflix's The Crown, believes the family can't have "a serious negotiation" if pals of the couple keep chipping in and if leaks continue.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain today, Lacey said: "You just showed Gayle King, their friend, talking on television.

"I think the feeling was when it came to the Oprah interview, that – ghastly though it was with all these family revelations being aired – that was it, and that was a sort of fresh start, and then suddenly the family discover that, well actually, their friend Gayle King has more to say, then Oprah says some more, and the feeling was, you can't have a serious family negotiation if it's going to be talked about on American television the day afterwards.

    "This remains a problem."

MEGHAN MARKLE AND PRINCE HARRY SHOT THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT FEUDING WITH THE ROYAL FAMILY

Meghan and Harry have shot themselves in the foot with an "unwinnable battle" against the Royal Family, according to a royal commentator

Since stepping down as senior royals last year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have since hit out at the institution they left.

They have heavily criticised the Firm, both in terms of its structure and individuals within it. However, the Royal Family has stood firm and together, refusing to bow to the attacks and only responding in the most minimal way.

Royal commentator Robert Taylor wrote in The Telegraph that the Sussexes are waging an “unwinnable PR battle” against the giant and ancient structure of the British Royal Family.

“One thing we’ve learned over the last few months is that both Harry and Meghan have experienced significant blows to their mental health."

KATE MIDDLETON 'HELPING PRINCE WILLIAM AND HARRY PUT ON A UNITED FRONT AT DIANA REUINION'

Kate Middleton is helping William and Harry put on a united front during Princess Diana's statue unveil next week, a royal insider has said.

It's set after the brothers are due to reunite for the second time since Harry's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey at Kensington Palace when the Diana memorial is revealed on July 1.

It comes after Kate acted as a peacemaker between Harry and William as they shared a private chat while walking away from Prince Philip's emotional funeral in April.

A source said: “Harry and William have only communicated by text since the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral. There have not been any personal chats or proper talks, just a very brief and minimal exchange of text messages.

“The relationship is still very much strained and there’s no sign yet that there will be any sort of coming together any time soon.”

WHEN WILL THE PRINCESS DIANA MEMORIAL STATUE BE UNVEILED?

Tributes will be paid to Princess Diana next month on July 1 – what would have been her 60th birthday.

It was commissioned by her sons in 2017 to “recognise her positive impact in the United Kingdom and around the world.”

The coronavirus pandemic meant the event was delayed – but has fallen nicely on the Princess’s birthday.

FIRST ROYAL MAJOR INVESTITURE SINCE PANDEMIC BEGAN TO TAKE PLACE

The first major investiture ceremony since the pandemic began will go ahead at St James’s Palace today – with significant changes brought in to keep the event Covid secure.

Insignia will not be pinned on by the Prince of Wales but instead will be collected by the recipients from a cushion.

Those being honoured will also have to wear masks as they move around the Palace, but can remove their face coverings in the Throne Room where the actual ceremony is taking place.

Numbers have been scaled back with the prince set to greet 32 recipients, rather than around 100 as would have been the norm in pre-pandemic times.

Recipients, who will collect honours ranging from knighthoods to MBEs, are only permitted to bring one guest, but the family member, partner or friend will also get the chance to meet heir-to-the-throne Charles.

MEGHAN AND HARRY BOUGHT ‘LILIBET’ DOMAIN NAME BEFORE GETTING QUEEN’S APPROVAL

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have admitted they bought the domain name “Lilibet Diana” before their daughter’s name was approved by the Queen.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex purchased a “significant” number of domain names for potential names they were considering for their baby girl.

The URL lilibetdiana.com was created on Friday June 4 through GoDaddy – two days before the Sussexes announced the arrival of Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

Several days earlier, on May 31, the domain name lilidiana.com was registered, giving the couple another alternative to Lilibet should the Queen have objected to its use.

A spokesman for the couple told The Telegraph: “Of course, as is often customary with public figures, a significant number of domains of any potential names that were considered were purchased by their team to protect against the exploitation of the name once it was later chosen and publicly shared.”

    LEAK FEARS

Prince William and Kate Middleton did not have a sit-down chat with Harry after Prince Philip’s funeral, a royal historian has claimed.

Robert Lacey, a historical consultant for Netflix’s The Crown, says the Cambridges feared their conversations would be leaked as family anger “ran deep” during the emotional service at Windsor in April.

Harry and Wills were seen walking and chatting together for around four minutes as they left their grandfather’s moving funeral service earlier this year.

It was reported at the time that the brothers then spoke for two hours afterwards – alongside dad Charles – in attempt to patch things over in their first meeting since Harry’s bombshell Oprah interview.

But Lacey claims the formal conference did not happen – with Charles said to have gone back to Wales and Kate and William nipping home to put their kids to bed.

    ‘REMORSELESS’ CONTINUED

Mr Lacey wrote in Battle of Brothers, a book about Meghan’s husband Harry and his brother William: “[Meghan] had rubbed shoulders with the likes of Hillary Clinton… and might have hoped to join UN Women’s distinguished roster of goodwill ambassadors that included celebrities such as Nicole Kidman and Emma Watson… but in those pre-Harry days UN Women only assigned the cable actress the lesser role of advocate.”

An LA screenwriter, who Mr Lacey says was close to Meghan’s pal at the time of her first marriage, claims the Duchess can become “remorseless” if she doesn’t get what she wants.

“Meghan does not cope well with what she perceives as rejection,” the insider said.

According to a source, Meghan had said she would only visit the market if there was no branding for UN Women.

However, it was claimed the royal “snapped” after seeing posters and T-shirts advertising the UN.

    ‘REMORSELESS’

Meghan Markle “doesn’t cope well with rejection” and is “nice and smiley” until someone “steps in her way”, a Hollywood screenwriter has claimed.

The accusation of the Duchess of Sussexes’ alleged “remorseless” nature comes after it was revealed she cut her visit to a Fijian market short after she was reportedly snubbed by the UN years earlier.

During the October 2018 visit, Meghan – who was pregnant at the time – was swept away by security guards after she whispered to a bodyguard.

At the time, the reason given for the abrupt end to her walkabout was that the crowds grew too big to control.

But royal biographer Robert Lacey said Meghan‘s sudden dash may have been because UN Women were hosting the event.

    ‘VULGAR’

Meghan’s aides insist she knew “flashy earrings” were gifted to her by the Saudi crown prince after he ordered the killing of a journalist, a royal expert has claimed.

The duchess was given the pair of glitzy chandelier earrings – which are reportedly worth £500,000 – by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as a wedding gift.

The earrings, triangular strings of coloured yellow diamonds set in white diamonds which palace sources attributed to Geneva watchmaker and jeweller Chopard, have been called “vulgar” in historian royal expert Robert Lacey’s new book.

In the book, Battle of Brothers: William, Harry and the Inside Story of a Family in Tumult, London antique jewellery Sandra Cronan is quoted as saying: “They’re surely too flashy for the Royal Family.

“They’re essentially a way of saying, ‘Look at all my money!’”

    PRINCESS PEACH

Dressed casually, Kate paired a pair of blue jeans with white shoes and a pastel peach blazer for the trip.

The smiling Duchess was shown around the exhibits by Dr Doug Gurr, the director of the National History Museum.

Kate also thanked children’s hospices in the UK for the “remarkable” and “life-changing” work they do.

Kate, patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Each), said the last year has been particularly difficult for families with seriously ill children and said children’s hospices are “a lifeline”.

PRINCE WILLIAM & HARRY ‘HAD FEROCIOUS FIGHT’ ON EVE OF MEGHAN MARKLE WEDDING

Prince Harry “had a ferocious fight” with William on the eve of his wedding to Meghan Markle and “weren’t speaking” before the trip to Australia, it has been claimed.

The royal brothers are said to have had a number of blazing rows, according to an unnamed source, with the one just before Harry and Meghan’s wedding at Windsor Castle said to be “particularly ferocious”.

The exact details of what happened though are not known, according to the Mail on Sunday.

However, on the day before the wedding the brothers were all smiles in front of the crowds with Harry saying he was feeling “great”.

During a walkabout in Windsor with William, Harry was asked twice if he was nervous, but the Prince replied: “Great, thanks. How are you feeling?”
