The One Show presenter Alex Jones, 44, took to Instagram at 3am last night to reveal that she is being “monitored” in hospital as she is heavily pregnant with her daughter, who she is expecting with husband Charlie Thomson. The TV personality recently prepared her hospital bag after leaving the BBC magazine programme at the start of the month for her maternity leave. But this morning Alex hinted that she could go into labour soon as she shared the exciting news.
Just been brought in to have a bit of monitoring…
The BBC personality posted a candid snap of her time in hospital, giving her followers an update.
With husband Charlie taking a selfie of him and Alex, the TV presenter was grinning from ear to ear as she relaxed in a hospital bed.
A monitoring band had been tied around the star’s stomach as Alex was comfortable in a pink t-shirt.
Updating her 330,000 followers on her situation, Alex wrote: “Just been brought in to have a bit of monitoring… nothing exciting so far.”
Alex’s update comes just days after she revealed that she left packing her hospital bag “a bit too late.”
The star told fans how she had been busy packing her bag for the hospital but had forgotten what she needed.
Posting on her stories, Alex said: “Warning everybody, this content is a little bit baby heavy.
“But I thought I should probably start thinking about a hospital bag.
“Left it a bit late and do you know what? I just cannot remember what’s supposed to go in.
“Even though this is my third.”
She then added: “I thought maybe some of you who have done it recently might have some reminders for me.”
Alex then showed what she had already in her bag as she panned the camera around.
This included PJs, blankets, toiletries, dummies and flip flops.
The presenter also shared how she had packed some baby grows in “tiny baby” sizes.
Explaining this, she said: “Tiny baby because we know she’s going to be quite small.”
At the start of August, Alex broke down on The One Show as she prepared to make her exit from the programme ahead of her maternity leave.
After hearing emotional goodbyes from co-star Ronan Keating and Jermaine Jenas, Alex was surprised when husband Charlie Thomson appeared on screen to give his wife a special message.
Alex broke down in tears as her husband told her he was “massively looking forward to baby number three.”
She said: “You know me, I cry at the slightest thing. Being here has been superb and doing it every night.
“It’s really hard to go away, even though it’s the third time,” she continued, before thanking viewers for knitting cardigans for her baby.
“I’ve loved every minute and it will be very hard to leave,” Alex told Gethin, adding: “Hopefully I’ll be back in the autumn.”
