Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Biopic Postponed To Summer 2022

Warner Bros.’ untitled biographical drama about the life and times of late rock legend Elvis Presley has been postponed to Summer 2022.

Warner Bros. announced Thursday that the film, which was originally scheduled to be released on November 5, 2021, will make its theatrical premiere on June 3, 2022.

Austin Butler will play the lead role of the “King of Rock and Roll” in the biopic, which is currently shooting in Australia.

Tom Hanks portrays the role of Colonel Tom Parker, who was the late rock star’s manager. Maggie Gyllenhaal is cast as Presley’s mother Gladys Presley.

The film is being directed by Baz Luhrmann, while its script was co-written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce.

Production was shut down after Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were diagnosed with COVID-19 in March last year.
