Graziano di Prima and Giada Lini were supposed to be getting married on Friday 3 July 2020, but due to Covid-19 the couple have been forced to delay their special day.
Like many couples they have made the heartbreaking decision to cancel their 2020 wedding. While people can now marry, there are many restrictions on guests and social distancing still needs to be applied.
Therefore Graziano, 26, and Giada, 28, decided it would be better to wait and have the wedding they originally dreamed of when things return to 'normal'.
The Strictly Come Dancing professional has remained optimistic and told OK!, "Considering that our love will last forever we decided to wait another year to celebrate with all the people we love for this super awaited day!"
Their wedding was set to take place in Graziano's native city, Sicily, in Italy, where the pair have been isolating. The loved-up couple are already excited to finally marry. "We can’t wait to be husband and wife in 2021," said Graziano.
They are marking the day that would have been their wedding by being together. "We will spend the day with each other and think of everyone and look forward to being all together again soon,” Graziano explained.
Giada was also feeling sentimental on the day and posted a romantic Instagram of Graziano proposing to her on stage during the Burn the Floor tour. "Our love is very strong so we can easily wait another year!!!," she wrote. "Can’t wait to be your future wife."
In an exclusive engagement shoot with OK!, Graziano spoke about the emotional moment he asked Giada to be his wife. “It was incredible. I will never forget that moment.
"Giada is the love of my life and I told her I wanted to spend the rest of our lives together."
Giada added: “We were crying for a while. Even during the next dance! It was so emotional. I’d always said to him that I wanted it to be like a fairy-tale princess story and it was.”
Graziano and Giada met in 2014 on talent show Amici, where Giada trained her husband-to-be in dance.
Discussing the moment they met, Graziano said: “The first time I saw Giada I knew she was the one I wanted to be with.”
Graziano also recently spoke to us about returning to the UK for Strictly Come Dancing. He said: "They’ve confirmed that I’m coming back so I’m really hoping the show can go ahead. It would be great to have a celebrity partner again [Graziano was partnered with Vick Hope in his first series]."
