This is why Meghan Markle’s dad said she needs to stop whining

Once again, Meghan Markle and her estranged father, Thomas Markle, are making headlines. And this time, the Duchess of Sussex’s father did not hold back. Ahead of the upcoming Aug. 11, 2020, release for the unofficial biography about Meghan and Prince Harry, Finding Freedom, Thomas warned his daughter and her hubby that they should “quit whining” because ya know… we’re in the throes of a global pandemic.

The fiasco came after various outlets began publishing excerpts of Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s book, revelations that appear to paint Meghan and Prince Harry in a sympathetic light. From an anecdote about Prince William and Kate Middleton supposedly being jealous of Meghan and Harry to a bit about Kate purportedly not showing Meghan “the ropes” of royal life, as noted in the Daily Mail, the book seemingly demonstrates the struggle the Duke and Duchess Sussex endured.

Although some suspect Meghan and Harry contributed to the book, as Page Six noted, the couple’s spokesperson released a statement on July 25, 2020, arguing otherwise. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom,” the rep said, according to BBC News. “This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting.”

So what’s the problem here? Read on to learn why Meghan’s daddio thinks his daughter is complaining during a global crisis.

Meghan Markle's father doesn't like 'what she's become'

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, the Duchess of Sussex’s father, Thomas Markle, minced no words about his daughter and seemed to imply that Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s Finding Freedom is a bad look. “This is the worst time in the world for them to be whining and complaining about anything – because people everywhere are suffering due to the coronavirus pandemic,” Thomas declared. He then took it one step further, adding, “I love my daughter but I really don’t appreciate what she’s become right now.”

Of course, Meghan and Prince Harry have denied being interviewed for the book. And the couple’s statement about it arguably isn’t whiny — it simply clarified the situation.

Either way, Thomas also seemed taken aback regarding the passages in the book that alleged that Harry and Meghan “rejected” arranging any sort of security for him after their romance became public knowledge. “The fact the royals advised them to get me help and they refused to do it is incredible news,” he said.

YIKES. We knew things were tense between the father-daughter duo but, jeez. Is there any coming back from this? Here’s to hoping that the Markles can eventually repair their broken relationship if that’s what they both want.
