Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton Just Had a 'One Tree Hill' Reunion On Instagram
It's been eight years since One Tree Hill was on the air, but that doesn't mean fans—or the cast—don't enjoy walking down memory lane and reliving the show every once in a while. This week, Chad Michael Murray reminded everyone of his days as Lucas Scott by sending his old castmate Hilarie Burton, who played his love interest Peyton Sawyer one the show, a birthday message filled with sweet reminders of their time on the beloved CW series. Even though it's been almost a decade, it's pretty clear their bond is still strong.
Murray included several photos that show the two of them through the years, starting with when they played high school sweethearts brought together in a fictional North Carolina town. He gushed about Burton, calling her a "super human" and raved about how happy he is that they grew up together.
“Happy Birthday to this mega talented, heart warming, always giving SUPER HUMAN that I’m blessed to call a friend- @hilarieburton,” he wrote in the caption on July 2. "We’re slowly but [surely] watching each other grow up. Keep making this world a better place! Love to the whole Morgan clan."

Burton responded just as enthusiastically in the comments. “Chad! My god, remember when we were ornery kids who knew everything?!?! It's been decades now,” she wrote. "We have both been so many different people, varying versions of ourselves, good and bad. I love this version best. Parents, trading pics of our spawn and loving on each other's spouses. Love to you and that beautiful family, buddy!!"
A bunch of the cast members reunited back in 2018 for a Lifetime special titled ‘Tis the Season: A One Tree Hill Cast Reunion. Murray wasn't a part of it, but he had his own OTH reunion with Nanny Carrie (Torey DeVitto) for the 2019 Hallmark Christmas movie, Write Before Christmas, which you can catch during the network's Christmas in July marathon, going on right now.
If you still miss Leyton, at least this exchange with Burton takes us back to that endgame ship, if only in spirit.
