Ferrari Unveils All-New 812 Competizione and 812 Competizione A
Last month, Ferrari teased its fastest ever road car, and now the Italian marque has officially unveiled the 812 Competizione and 812 Competizione A.
Starting with the standalone 812 Competizione, we can see a number of visual changes that differentiate this from the “standard” 812 Superfast. First and foremost is the more angular front end that meets the new bonnet that now adopts a large, single central air duct. Louvers in the wings have also been added, coming together with the bonnet vent to provide 10 percent more efficient engine cooling.
Plenty of aerodynamic and lightweight components have been added onto the side of the car and become one with the body work, while at the rear, you’ll find a patented rear window design and a diffuser that stretches the full width of the back end, nestling the rectangular exhaust pipes that further set this model apart from the 812 Superfast.
As for the 812 Competizione A — Ferrari’s Targa-top version — much more has been done than just removing the roof. It appears lower thanks to how the windowscreen wraps into the side windows, and that the flying buttresses at the rear are lower than in the 812 Competizione.
Both come fitted with a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 that produces 818 HP as opposed to the 812 Superfast’s 789 HP. What’s most exciting is that the already high-revving 812 has been made even more extreme, revving up to 9,500 RPM — which is sure to make this sound and behave unlike anything else that’s road-legal.
