Jonathan Coachman reveals Hollywood star Bautista once ‘legitimately’ knocked him out in WWE locker room
WWE legend turned Hollywood star Dave Bautista once ‘knockout out’ former commentator Jonathan Coachman.
‘The Coach’ was one of the most hilarious characters back in WWE’s heyday of the Attitude Era and was involved in several comedic moments with the likes of The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
He even got roped into several spots inside the ring and was booked into matches against Shawn Michaels, John Cena and Triple H.
But now he has revealed the biggest bump, a term used by wrestlers for hitting the ground or mat hard, occurred outside of the ropes.
When asked during a recent Twitter Q&A what was the biggest bump he took, he revealed: “Wasn’t in a ring. Bautista knocked me out in a locker room in Steubenville Ohio.
“Part of my skull is still on the ceiling in the office there. He didn’t do it on purpose. Just happens when you are practicing moves.”
The 47-year-old has enjoyed success away from WWE as a sports interviewer for ESPN and NBC but returned to Vince McMahon’s company in 2018 and now appears as the pre-show host for pay-per-views.
Meanwhile, after enjoying huge success in WWE, Bautista left McMahon’s pro wrestling powerhouse in 2010 but returned three years later.
The Hollywood actor walked out of the WWE again in 2014 after Evolution lost to The Shield and would not come back until 2018, wrestling his final match a year later against Triple H.
With his competitive career now up, Bautista – who went by the name Batista in the ring – insisted last year he will remain ‘connected’ with the WWE Universe.

'The Animal', who recently offered a £15k reward to find the person responsible for carving 'Trump' onto a manatee's back, explained: “I said that at WrestleMania last year it’s the end of my in-ring journey, but it’s not the end of my journey with the WWE.
“I will always be connected with them, I’ll always be affiliated with them, I hope that I will always have a good relationship with them.
“So it doesn’t really feel like an ending for me, it feels like, kind of, I’m right in the mix.
“All I can say is it feels good, it’s just satisfying. I feel like I accomplished something. I feel like it was all worth it.”
