Getting your sneaker-head in the selling game got a whole lot easier, all thanks to eBay.
The king of buying, selling and reselling online, eBay is making it easier to sell your designer sneakers online or buy a pair for yourself while protecting yourself from scams and fraud.
There’s nothing worse than shopping online, only to open your package and find a dupe of what you thought you ordered. This can be rampant in the luxury and designer shoe market especially, but eBay is kicking fraud to the curb with their eBay Authenticity Guarantee for sneakers.
“Authenticators verify the box, sizing labels, soles, stitching, logos, heel tabs, laces, and more. Once a pair is verified as authentic, the left sneaker receives a unique NFC-enabled tag that provides detailed information about the pair’s authenticity,” explains the site.
Sounds easy enough, as there is no fee for buyers or sellers to authenticate using eBay’s experts. eBay also covers the cost of three-day shipping from their authentication partners to the buyer, making this a win-win for all parties.
To qualify for eBay’s stamp of approval, the shoes must be sold for $150 or more, ship to an address in the United States and cannot be customized pairs or labeled as such. New Yeezy and Jordan sneakers, both men’s and women’s, qualify; so long as they meet the price point and delivery criteria, trending sneakers that could go for a great price. eBay will be ramping their program to all collectible sneakers over $100 in early 2021.
