Pret challenges customers to sandwich making competition – and winning filling will appear on their menu
While Pret a Manger stores are closed due to coronavirus lockdown, the company is already thinking about what will be on their shelves when the temporary closure lifts.
The coffee and bakery chain has challenged its loyal customers to a sandwich making competition while they're practising self-isolation at home.
Winners of 'The Next Pret Sandwich' competition will also see their recipe become one of theChef’s Specials and eventually launch into Pret shops over the next couple of months when the store reopens.
The competition has been launched on Pret's Instagram channel today along with advice from one of their own chefs Val, who is responsible for some of our most popular products.
First she will be sharing her top tips for creating the perfect sandwich during ‘Val’s Sandwich Seminars’ and then Pret will be asking customers to share their creations with us, and show off some of Val’s favourites.

A spokesperson added: "We know a lot of customers are working from home at the moment so are hoping we can provide them with some lunchtime inspiration."
The store has already been asking Pret fans to share their own lunches that they've been whipping up during the week while staying at home.
In return for those with the best dishes, they have been sent their very own Pret Recipe Book.

It comes after Pret, which was forced to temporarily close the doors to 400 of its stores due to the coronavirus pandemic, shared a recipe on Facebook for their popular chocolate chunk cookies.
Many of their customer were delighted at the gesture saying they missed their "daily dose" of Pret and that it has brought them joy "in a time that’s a little glum".
"We've been inundated with requests for the secret to our Dark Chocolate Chunk Cookies. This recipe is perfect for rookie cookie makers or seasoned pro-bakers," the company wrote, and encouraged those attempting the bake to share pictures of their results.
Customers took to the Facebook comments to thank Pret for the uplifting message, with more asking for other recipes like their spelt biscuits, soup, porridge and vegan options.
Pret posted the recipe which will make eight decent sized cookies with fans gushing: "Crying with happiness… dream come true."
