Spike Lee‘s dedication to the Knicks is in question.
With under four minutes left in the Knicks’ 103-89 Game 5 elimination loss to Atlanta, the diehard fan appeared to exit Madison Square Garden.
Lee’s apparent escape was caught on camera by TNT, which prompted Marv Albert and Reggie Miller to have some fun on the broadcast.
“Oh Spike’s leaving early, come on a second,” Albert said.
“That’s a fair-weather fan right there,” Miller remarked.
“If you want to be the number one supporter of the Knicks, you gotta stay here and take it like, like the guys on the floor.”
Miller was the ultimate MSG villain in the 90s and Lee played a significant role in that. The Pacers sharpshooter famously feuded with Lee during an epic performance in the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals. The two have made amends in recent years, though this may re-open the wound.
Lee eventually returned to his seat to finish watching Trae Young and the Hawks send the Knicks on an early “vacation.”
Right after tip-off in the first round playoff series, Lee was featured on camera with a star-studded group that included comedians Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan and more.
