T-Mobile Is Offering a Free Year of Quibi to Select T-Mobile Customers

T-Mobile is offering select customers a free year of Quibi, the upcoming streaming service that is launching on April 6.

The company’s new promotional deal was announced Thursday and is valid for T-Mobile customers on its Magenta family plans with two or more lines. T-Mobile also said that customers who sign up by April 3 can get early access to three bonus episodes of the Jennifer Lopez-led “Thanks a Million.”

The promotional deal was announced several days ahead of Quibi’s April 6 launch. The streaming service, a joint venture between former Walt Disney Studios chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg and Silicon Valley veteran Meg Whitman, bills itself as a mobile-only short-form streaming service. Installments of Quibi’s myriad upcoming original series and films will release in 10-minute chapters, or “quick bites,” and are designed for film and television fans on-the-go.

Quibi is already offering a free 3-month trial to anyone, a considerably lengthier trial period than most competing streaming services offer. The service will normally be available in tiers: An ad-supported version will be available for $4.99 per month, while an ad-free Quibi experience will run customers $7.99 per month.

The streaming service, which is aimed at younger demographics, has enjoyed strong funding — the company expects to spend over $1 billion on original content in its first year — since Katzenberg founded Quibi in August 2018 and has partnered with a laundry list of high-profile directors, actors, and other celebrities to make content for the platform.

Popular on IndieWire

While only time will tell if consumers are hooked by Katzenberg and Whitman’s big-money venture, it’s already abundantly clear that Quibi won’t be lacking for original content. Quibi has announced a dizzying array of shows from practically every genre under the sun. Idris Elba will star in racing series “Elba Vs. Block,” Chrissy Teigen will play a judge in “Chrissy’s Court,” and MTV’s “Punk’d” is getting a new lease on life with Chance the Rapper at the helm. The platform will also launch with a variety of original documentaries.

Quibi is one of several streaming services that will be launching this year. WarnerMedia will release its HBO Max platform sometime in May, while NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service is slated to launch in July.

'The Simpsons' Aspect Ratio Problem on Disney+ Will Be Fixed in Early 2020

Update 4/2/20: Today, Disney+ released a statement on Twitter saying they expect this process to be completed by the end of May 2020.

Our original article from November 2019 follows.

Disney+ arrived this week to much excitement and glee from fans anxious to stream everything from the new live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian to Disney classics The Lion King and everything in between. However, one of the more enticing library titles from Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox immediately disappointed fans. But thankfully, it’s about to be fixed.

Every single season of The Simpsons is available on Disney+ right now, but when it comes to the first 19 seasons of the show, there was an issue. The aspect ratio for those episodes was presented in the widescreen 16:9 ratio, the shape of your average television today. But those episodes from the first 19 seasons aired when the full screen 4:3 ratio was the standard for television. The result was episodes that lost visual quality and some hilarious sight gags. But Disney+ will have The Simpsons aspect ratio problem fixed in the near future.

Disney released a statement announcing their plans to have The Simpsons aspect ratio problem fixed:

“We presented “The Simpsons” in 16:9 aspect ratio at launch in order to guarantee visual quality and consistency across all 30 seasons. Over time, Disney+ will roll out new features and additional viewing options. As part of this, in early 2020, Disney+ will make the first 19 seasons (and some episodes from Season 20) of “The Simpsons” available in their original 4:3 aspect ratio, giving subscribers a choice of how they prefer to view the popular series.”

The reason this fix only applies to the first 19 seasons and some of the 20th season is because halfway through that season, The Simpsons started broadcasting in widescreen. So every episode after that was made for the 16:9 aspect ratio. It’s a shame fans will have to wait as much as a few months for something that should have been available right out of the gate, but that’s just how it goes sometimes.

With Disney+ promising “new features and additional viewing options,” hopefully this means they will also start adding the episode commentaries that were available when entire seasons were previously made available on FX Now. The streaming service could really set themselves apart from the rest of the competition by offering unique special features and bonus material, especially if it ends up being stuff you can’t get on the home video releases of certain titles, like the recent Avengers: Endgame deleted scene that was made available on Disney+. Stay tuned as the streaming service continues to adapt and grow.

NCIS season 17: Why weren’t fans happy with this week’s episode of NCIS?

NCIS series 17 had plenty of memorable moments, including the return of Agent Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) as she once again went off but this time to be reunited with Tony Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly) and their daughter Tali. However, the most recent show has got fans’ attention but for the wrong reasons. So what did fans not like about episode 19 of the CBS crime drama?

Warning: This article contains spoilers from NCIS season 17, episode 19.

NCIS returned on Tuesday, March 31, for its penultimate episode which was called Blarney.
Whereas the focus would normally be on the field agents investigating a suspicious death, this time around, everyone was concentrating on forensic scientist Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover) and medical examiner Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).
The pair bumped into each before work and decided to have brunch together at a diner.
While there though, a few customers were being rude to the servers and Kasie and Jimmy felt it was only right that they spoke up and told them not to act so horribly.
They left the diner and they thought it was all over but they were very much wrong.
Not too long after, they saw the rude customers were robbing a jewellery store across the road but one of them was injured by an armed guard.
So, with little time to get to their getaway car, they instead ran back over to the diner where they held the staff and customers, including Kasie and Jimmy, hostage.

  • NCIS LA Fortune Favours The Brave cast: Who stars in NCIS Los Angeles?

Meanwhile, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the rest of the team were instructed to find a killer after a body of petty crook Daniel Spagnolo was found in the dumpster by their building.
NCIS soon got wind of what had happened to Kasie and Jimmy as the diner was on the news.
They then worked out it was actually Max (Leif Gantvoort) and his fellow robbers who murdered the man as he was their fourth accomplice.
However, following an argument, they decided to kill him instead just before they robbed the store.
They had also swallowed a condom filled with stolen diamonds each to ensure they would get away with them but this ended up being their downfall.
Jimmy pretended one of the robbers who had died of injuries caused by the armed guard, was actually killed by internal bleeding thanks to the diamonds.
Whereas one of the robbers gave himself in pretty quickly so they could get the diamonds out of his body, Max was thankfully temporarily distracted by this, allowing NCIS to storm in and rescue those at the diner.

Why weren’t fans happy with NCIS season 17’s Blarney?

While Gibbs and the other agents were thrilled to have Kasie and Jimmy back safely, many fans were left unimpressed by the episode.
One of the complaints was in regards to the robbers themselves.
An NCIS fan took to Reddit to list all of their mistakes.
They said: “It’s like the bad guys don’t watch TV and movies to see what mistakes not to make and how the cops might beat them.
“They kept casing the store from the same public place while drawing attention to themselves, especially right before the heist.
“Apparently, they dumped the body not far away.
“The driver didn’t cover his face. They didn’t disable or blind the cameras in the jewellery store.
“Rather than swallowing the diamonds on the way to the airport, they swallowed them immediately in full view of the cameras and left a wrapper behind.”
But another complaint being made about the episode is in regards to the actual writing itself.

Another Reddit user said: “I love NCIS and I’ve watched it for the last 17 years, but I really thought this last episode was written really poorly.
“The way they wrote Kasie and Jimmy’s responses to the gunman before they rob the jewellery store and the way they had their responses during the whole hostage situation in the diner was written awful, just plain awful.
“I mean, just little things. Like Jimmy would have never said that stuff on the phone. Neither one of them would have talked to the gunman with the attitudes they had.”

  • NCIS plot hole: Huge season 12 error

NCIS will be cutting this series shorter than normal due to the coronavirus pandemic so rather than the planned 24 episodes, there will be just 20.
The drama will be taking a one week break from our screens next week but will return after that.
This will then be the last episode in series 17 and will be called The Arizona.
An official synopsis has not yet been released for the episode.
NCIS season 17 continues on Tuesday, April 14, at 9pm on CBS.

The Office reunion: Will The US Office return for a reunion special? Stars drop huge hint

The Office on NBC has just as many fans today as it did when it was still airing its nine seasons on the network. Over the years since it ended in 2013, there have been endless rumours about the show coming back again. These were ignited recently when two of the series’ stars reunited for the 15th anniversary of the show – here’s what you need to know.

Will The Office return for a reunion?

Fans were thrilled when two of The Office’s main stars reunited over video call recently to celebrate the 15th anniversary since the show began.

Jim Halpert star John Krasinski has launched a new YouTube series called Some Good News.

Back on March 31, he called Steve Carell who played Michael Scott on the show to discuss the anniversary.

They reminisced about some of their favourite memories of the sitcom, as well as dropping a hint about the potential for a reunion.

  • Friends reunion special ‘delayed’ due to COVID-19 threat

Towards the end of the show, Krasinski said: “Listen I know everybody’s talking about a reunion but hopefully one day we just get to reunite as people and just say hi.”

Carell responded: “Just to see your face is so great.”

The moment left fans wondering whether a reunion might be on the cards for the hugely popular show.

In the years since the show ended in 2013, there have been endless rumours about the potential with many of the cast voicing their opinions.

This includes Krasinski who spoke to Esquire back in February about the possibility.

He said: “The Office was absolutely everything to me. I mean it is my beginning and my end. I’m pretty sure at the end of my career I’ll still be known for Jim.

“That was my first experience with Hollywood. It was the first creative family I’ve ever had.

“In many ways, they will always be the most important people in that most important experience in my career. So yeah, if they did a reunion, I would absolutely love to do it.”

This also follows the confirmation from NBC about how the network was in conversations about how a reboot of the series could work.

In the US, the entire nine seasons of The Office will be airing on the network’s new streaming platform Peacock in 2021 and the former head of streaming Bonnie Hammer told Deadline about her hopes for a reboot.

She said: “It is my hope and goal that we do an Office reboot.

“The Office comes back to us in January 2021. It is my hope that we can figure what that great reboot would be. We are having conversations.”

In aid of the anniversary of the show, bookmakers Ladbrokes has also released new odds about the potential for a reunion special.

These were slashed earlier this week from 10/1 to just 5/1 for a reunion to film in 2020 after fans began celebrating the 15th anniversary.

What’s more, Carell and Krasinski are not the only former castmates to reunite recently after Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey launched a companion podcast at the end of 2019.

Called Office Ladies, the Pam Beesly and Angela Martin actors reveal behind-the-scenes stories from each episode.

They have also interviewed former co-stars like Rainn Wilson and Creed Bratton on there as well as speaking to the creator Greg Daniels.

  • Movies to watch on lockdown: The most uplifting movies to watch

Although it seems like Daniels is not as keen on the ideas as some of the others involved, as he revealed to Entertainment Weekly back in October.

He explained: “It was such a perfect thing that I would hesitate to open it up. We got the chance to end it the way we wanted to end it.

“It wasn’t like we were interrupted in the middle of a run or something. So in a sense it’s completely an artistic whole.”

There seem to be a lot of conflicting opinions about the future of the series but it certainly seems like its return is more possible than ever in 2020.

The Office is available on Netflix in the US and Amazon’s Prime Video in the UK.

Narcos: Who is Chepe in Narcos? Was he a real person?

Narcos is a popular crime drama series airing on Netflix and it is based on the true events of the Colombian drug trade. The series follows the story of Pablo Escobar (played by Wagner Moura) who became rich through the production and distribution of cocaine across Colombia. The third season follows the fall of Escobar and focuses on the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as they try to hone in on the Cali Cartel.

Who is Chepe in Narcos?

Actor Pêpê Rapazote plays José “Chepe” Santacruz-Londoño and first appears in the third series of Narcos.

He is a high-ranking member of the Cali Cartel and is in control of the group’s operations in New York City.

In the series, he goes by the alias Victor Crespo and he ends up shooting a Dominican gang in New York when he discovers they are in the cocaine production market.

At the end of the series, Chepe surrenders to the police with Pacho (Alberto Ammann). Pacho is killed in prison and Chepe is murdered by leaders of the AUC.

  • Narcos Mexico: Who is Tessa Ía? What Narcos star was she related to?

Was Chepe a real person?

Yes, Chepe Santacruz was a real person and he was born José Santacruz Londoño. He was a Colombian drug lord who was a leader of the Cali Cartel in real life.

The Cali Cartel was created by Chepe, and brothers Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela and Miguel Rodríguez Orejuela in the 1970s and they started off trafficking marijuana.

A decade later they started up a cocaine trafficking business and they were believed to have supplied up to 80 percent of the cocaine market in the US.

The cartel was thought to have leaned towards bribery to get what they wanted, as opposed to resorting to violence like other cartels.

Some of the cartel leaders were arrested in 1995 but Chepe escaped a year later from La Picota prison in Bogotá.

He put together a network of hitmen and formed an alliance with old members of the Medellín Cartel, before ordering the assassination of a large number of potential witnesses against him.

Chepe is believed to have died aged 52 in Medellín, Colombia, when police traced him with the help of an anonymous phone call in March 1996.

Police were told he had been seen at a shopping centre and he was followed after he left the shops. He was killed while attempting to run away after police stopped his car.

There is another version of his death which became known after drug trafficker Javier Antonio Calle Serna published his memoir.

He said Chepe’s death was set up by paramilitary groups, instigated by Danilo González, a Colombian police colonel who had clashed with Pablo Escobar before becoming an associate of the Cali Cartel.

In the Narcos series, Chepe is first seen in the episode titled The Kingpin Strategy, and he is last seen in Going Back to Cali, which was the tenth and final episode of season three.

In one scene narrator Scoot McNairy is heard saying: “Chepe Santacruz never did make it back to New York. Without the government’s guarantee their sentences would be minimal, Chepe decided prison was not the best place for him to be.

“And so he released himself and set out in search of new alliances, with partners who would help him rebuild the empire.”

Actor Pêpê Rapazote is a Portuguese actor who is known for his other roles in the American version of Shameless, Blood Ties and Operation Finale.

He worked as an architect for some time before deciding he wanted to start an acting career and trained under director and actor José Boavida.

The actor, who divides his time between Europe, Latin America and the US, is married to actress Mafalda Vilhena and the couple have two daughters.

Sophie Turner Is 'Loving' Being Quarantined With Joe Jonas

Sophie Turner is taking the new social distancing guidelines in stride. The 24-year-old actress appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Conan via video chat and revealed that she is enjoying staying home with her husband, Joe Jonas, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“I’m kind of loving it. I’m an introvert. I’m a homebody. If I could stay at home all day I would, so this is great for me,” Turner said. “I leave the house like once a day anyway to walk my dogs and then that’s it.”

“… Everything seems to be working out in my favor here because Joe’s a real social butterfly, so I struggle to lock him down and have him just spend time with me… It’s like prison for him, but it’s great for me,” she added of her musician husband, with whom she’s rumored to be expecting her first child.

Turner admitted that she doesn’t “understand how people are really struggling to practice social distancing” because “all you have to do is stay at home and get drunk at home.”

As for how she and Jonas are passing the time at home, Turner discussed how her 30-year-old husband has taken to DJing on Instagram Live.

“He’s started doing that really, really loudly when I’m trying to read my scripts. He’s DJing at home,” she said. “… But it’s fun! I pour him his drinks. I pour him his alcohol. I give him tequila shots. He’ll text me and be like, ‘What time is it?’ I’ll reply from the kitchen, ‘Shot time,’ and bring him a shot of tequila.”

Though Turner enjoys dressing her husband according to the theme of his DJ set, she expressed confusion over the fact that he’s opted for real clothes over sweatpants during the quarantine, even when he’s not livestreaming online.

“I saw a meme online… [that said], ‘If you’re wearing denim pants at home, what does that say about you during quarantine?’… What does that say about you as a person? Are you a psychopath?” she joked. “And Joe does that! Joe wears denim trousers at home when no one can see him. I’m not wearing denim trousers!”

Turner previously said that she and Jonas are not “f**king around” when it comes to self-isolating and slammed those who aren’t taking social distancing regulations seriously.

“Stay inside. Don’t be f**king stupid, even if you count your freedom over… your health,” she said. “I don’t give a F about your freedom. You could be infecting other people, other vulnerable people around you by doing this. So, stay inside guys. It’s not cool and it’s not big and it’s not clever. And that’s the tea.”

Goliath season 4 release date, cast, trailer, plot: When will the new series be released?

Goliath will be returning to Amazon’s Prime Video for a fourth and final series later this year as Billy McBride (played by Billy Bob Thornton) is expected to return. In the new outing he will be dealing with what the showrunner has called a “timely global crisis” – here’s everything revealed about it so far.

When will Goliath season 4 be released?

Goliath season four was confirmed by Amazon Studios on November 14 with the news the series will be released in 2020.

Co-head of Amazon Studios Television Vernon Sanders said: “Goliath has been one of our most popular shows ever on Prime Video,

“We’re so thankful to Billy Bob [Thornton], Larry [Trilling], Geyer [Kosinski], Jennifer [Ames], Steve [Turner], and the entire Goliath team for bringing this series to life.

“We’re happy that our customers around the world will have a chance to see Billy McBride bring this final chapter to a close on Prime Video next year.”

The exact date the series will be released has not yet been announced but the show could follow a similar pattern to the previous outings.

The first series was released in October 2016, the second came out in June 2018 and third in October 2019.

However, given the Outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19, the series may face some delays, as other shows have.

Who is in the cast of Goliath season 4?

The big question hanging over the cast of season four is over whether Billy Bob Thornton will return.

Viewers last saw the beloved character bleeding out in a car park after he was shot by Diana Blackwood (played by Amy Brenneman).

However, the actor did speak about whether he could return in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in October 2019.

He said: “If they’re inclined to do another season, I think I would be inclined to.

“I think they would be because it’s been a successful show for them. So if we can figure out a way to get me back out there, it could happen.”

Other returning cast members expect to include Nina Arianda as Patty Solis-Papagia, Diana Hopper as Denise McBride and Tania Raymonde as Brittany Gold.

More recurring cast who could be back include Ana de la Reguera as Marisol Silva and William Hurt as Donald Cooperman.

However, it seems unlikely Dennis Quaid will be back as Wade Blackwood as the series usually introduces a new major antagonist for each series.

In a similar vein, Amy Brenneman is not expected to return as Diana Blackwood after she was also seemingly killed at the end of the third season.

Amazon has now announced it will also be adding three more to its expanding cast in the new season.

This includes Haley Joel Osment in a recurring role as Dyland Zax who, according to Variety, has been described as the weakest link in the Zax family.

As well as Osment, Hunger Games star Jena Malone will play a founding member of a law firm and Billions actor Clara Wong will play a dedicated chemist to the Zax family.

What will happen in Goliath season 4?

No plot details have been confirmed about the fourth season of the show yet.

However, it is expected the series will pick up on the dramatic cliffhanger of the third series which left Billy’s life in danger.

When the new series was announced on November 14, executive producer Lawrence Trilling gave a hint about where it will go.

He said: “I’m thrilled we get another season to tell Billy McBride’s story.

“Our latest case tackles a timely global crisis that impacts an entire generation, and we will be adding some exceptional talent to our already amazing cast.”

Is there a trailer for Goliath season 4?

Unfortunately, no trailer has been released yet for the latest season of Goliath.

This is because the series has only just been commissioned by Amazon Studios.

The trailer for season three was released on August 22, 2019 ahead of the series release on October 4, 2019.

Therefore, viewers may be waiting until just a few months before release to get a look at the final series.

Tipping Point: ITV viewers stunned as they spot Ben Shephard innuendo

Tipping Point viewers witnessed another three contestants fall by the wayside this evening as Ben Shephard brought his regular mix of tough and complex brainteasers. After a brutal battle between the four players on the ITV show, just one was left to take on the final round of Tipping Point: Nuala. Nuala fought diligently to take home vast sums of money but ultimately went home with just under £3,000.

It was one of the questions before the show came to an end which prompted some outcry from viewers, however.

Host Ben Shephard was tasked with asking Nuala the collection of questions set to stump her and get between her and her potential prize money.

One question, however, saw Ben asking which of the displayed answers was used to give aircrafts a substantial “thrust” in flight.

Viewers quickly began noting Ben kept saying the word “thrust” in an invigorated manner, and with great gusto.

  • Tipping Point fans ‘mute’ ITV quiz show over player’s ‘bizarre’ habit

Because of this, they instantly began speaking out on Twitter regarding this odd innuendo.

One wrote: “#TippingPoint Loving the way Ben emphasised ‘thrust’.” (sic)

Another joked: “Love a bit of thrust… #tippingpoint.”

With a third pointing out: “The way Ben said ‘thrust’ #tippingpoint.”

The answer to the question was, of course, an afterburner.

A fan of the show instantly wrote out why this answer was correct on Twitter, amid the plethora of tweets about Ben’s “thrust” pronunciation.

They explained: “An afterburner is a component present on some jet engines, mostly those used on military supersonic aircraft. Its purpose is to provide an increase in thrust, usually for supersonic flight, takeoff, and combat situations #TippingPoint.”

Unfortunately for Nuala, she got it wrong and was eventually sent home with less money than she had anticipated.

Thankfully, she confessed it was an amount she was happy with and was eager to spend it with her children.

Earlier this week, Ben snapped at one of his contestants after they made a huge mistake.

Whilst debating with Ben over whether the answer to the geography question on the screen was Arthur’s Seat or Arthur’s Table, he confessed he had once walked up Arthur’s Seat.

Ben pointed this out, saying: “You’ve walked up Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh in the park…”

Contestant Owen then added: “And I’ve been to a chip van called ‘Arthur’s Eat’.”

Prompting Ben to reply: “You’ve been to Arthur’s Eat, you’ve walked up Arthur’s Seat, you’ve ignored what you’ve done and you’ve gone with Arthur’s Table.”

Owen quipped that fans of the show may be a little angry at him for not selecting the correct answer, despite obviously knowing it, leaving Ben to respond: “I’m angry with you! I mean…”

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.

The Good Doctor Fans Are Heartbroken After That Tragic Death in the Season 3 Finale

Watch out! This post contains spoilers.

The Good Doctor said goodbye to one of its most notable doctors on Monday night. During the season three finale, Dr. Neil Melendez dies from septic shock, which is brought on by injuries he sustains during the earthquake in part one of the finale. While he is able to share some touching moments with Dr. Lim and Claire before he dies (he finally tells Claire he loves her), it doesn’t make his death any easier for fans. Not only was he one of the main characters on the show, but there was so much more of his story left to tell.

So, why did Dr. Melendez die in the finale? Well, it definitely wasn’t actor Nicholas Gonzalez’s decision to leave the show. During an interview with TVLine, the actor confirmed that it was a “creative decision” for his character to die. “There’s a lot about this job that I loved and was honored to do, and a lot of that came out of the family that we created behind the scenes,” he said. “But there also comes a time when you feel it’s time to move on, and I feel like I’m leaving Good Doctor at a really great place.”

However, he did add that Melendez’s death in the finale felt a little premature. “It was tough because I felt like nothing was good enough,” he said about reading the script for the first time. “It wasn’t going to be a good enough goodbye because, you know, I think it’s a little early . . . so I think that nothing was ever going to really feel appropriate.”

Even showrunner David Shore “second-guessed” the decision to kill off Melendez. “These are the horrible decisions you have to make when you’re running a TV show,” he told TVLine about the character’s death. “You want to tell honest stories. You want to tell stories of life and death, and that includes your regulars on occasion, and on occasion you have to make the bad choice because otherwise you don’t have credibility. In order to keep the show honest, every now and again the worst has to happen, and we wanted to throw our characters into this situation, and we wanted to be honest about it. We wanted to see the fallout from that.”
