Tonight on The One Show, Alex Jones was joined by former Strictly Come Dancing star Alex Scott and she received quite a surprise at the end of the episode when her mum joined via video link. Alex J was left fighting back tears as she revealed she hadn’t seen her mum for months and insisted they would be reunited soon. But that wasn’t the only surprise as Alex S went on to reveal the host would be taking a step back from The One Show for a well deserved break.

Alex S began: “And Alex we have to let everyone know, you’ve been busy keeping everyone entertained during the lockdown, working so hard to keep smiles on everyone’s faces.

“You are going away for two weeks. You fully deserve it.”

Alex Jones replied: “I am,” as she flashed a cheeky smile at the camera.

“You know what it has been a real privilege to come to work every day with all of you lot and also thanks for being the reason, along with my family for getting me through this really weird time.
