Coronation Street and EastEnders clash for the first time in years tonight – leaving soap fans forced to choose

SOAP fans will have to choose between Coronation Street and EastEnders tonight – with the TV titans clashing.

Because Friday's episode never aired, the BBC are giving fans a double dose of Albert Square action tonight.

The soap are not thought to have gone head-to-head since March 2019 when there was a rare schedule clash.

And it's happened again tonight after Friday's EastEnders – which got cancelled because of the death of Prince Phillip – got shunted over to Monday night.

Emmerdale will air as normal at 7pm, with the first instalment of Coronation Street following at 7.30pm.

The first EastEnders then gets going at 8.10pm, overlapping with the second Coronation Street at 8.30pm.

Then, between 8.30pm and 9pm both EastEnders and Corrie are on air at the same time.

Given how many soaps are airing on Monday night, clashes between them were almost inevitable, with broadcasters wary of putting their hit shows on too late.

Meanwhile, ITV will air hour-long episodes of both Emmerdale and Coronation Street tomorrow night from 7pm.

ITV pulled the two shows to make way for coverage of Prince Philip's life, after he passed away at Windsor Castle on Friday at the age of 99.
