Coronation Streets Daisy star admits shes not allowed to pour pints on soap

The actress who plays Coronation Street barmaid Daisy Midgley is banned from pulling pints on set – because she is too "clumsy" in real life.

Charlotte Jordan, 26, made "such a mess" when she tried to serve a beer in the Rovers Return (corr) soap chiefs called time on future efforts.

She is now only allowed to serve bottled ale in scenes shot in the show’s pub.

Luckily Charlotte reckons her bungling bar work fits in perfectly with Daisy’s character as a lazy layabout.

The actress, who has also appeared in Casualty and Netflix drama Free Rein, told Inside Soap magazine: "I’m a very clumsy human so I’ve always avoided bar or waitressing work or any job where I would have to carry things.

"I’d make such a mess.

"That’s actually what happened the first time I had to pull a pint in the Rovers.

"So now I’m only allowed to serve bottled beer!

"I think Daisy would be quite a lazy employee, though, so you’ll just see me half-heartedly wiping things with a tea towel because I think that’s all she would do."

The Surrey-born star, who launched her career as a teen playing Serena in Nickelodeon series Summer in Transylvania, joined the show during the pandemic and has already won over viewers.

Her character has been such a hit her contract has been extended until at least September (2021) and the feisty barmaid could become one of the soap’s iconic bad girls.

Producer Iain MacLeod has said: "Daisy might seem like sweetness and light at first but can be a maelstrom of minxy mischief when the mood takes her.

"She revels in devilment and can be very self-serving, but she’s fiercely loyal to those she cares about – although her loyalties can change in a heartbeat."

Corrie airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
