EastEnders star Gary Webster’s wife Wendy rushed to hospital in Covid battle as he thanks NHS for ‘saving her life’

EASTENDERS star Gary Webster's wife Wendy was rushed to hospital amid her coronavirus battle, and he has thanked the NHS for "saving her life".

The 57-year-old actor took to his Twitter page to update fans on his family's tough time after losing his mum to the deadly virus last month.

Thankfully, Wendy, who has been married to Gary since 2000, is now back at home amid her health battle, but she is still "poorly".

Gary wrote: "Thanks to all 4 support over last weeks. Losing my Mum to Covid-19 & then my wife @turnerwebster being admitted to hospital with Covid-19 pneumonia has been very tough.

"Thanks to all at @WestMidHospital 4 their life saving work. Wendy still poorly but thankfully home. We ❤ NHS".

The star was inundated with supportive messages, with Denise Welch replying: "So sorry to hear Gary. Love to Wendy xx"

Another follower wrote: "So sorry to hear what a tough time you have all had. Wishing Wendy a speedy recovery."

Last month, Gary shared his heartache as he revealed that his beloved mum had "peacefully passed away in her sleep" while he and his 20-year-old son Jack continued to fight coronavirus.

Sharing a picture of his mum with Wendy, the actor penned: "Thank you so much to everyone for such beautiful support to my son and I as we recover from Covid.

"Last Sunday my mum also contracted the virus. 3 generations in a week. I am devastated to say my mum didn't make it & passed peacefully in her sleep last Thursday. She was much loved."

Gary played Graham Clark on EastEnders in 1987 before returning to the soap in 2016 to play Neville Peacock.

He has also starred in Hollyoaks, The Bill, and TV series Minder.
