Emmerdale fans stunned by glaring 'plot hole' in David stunt scene

Emmerdale fans were taken aback by what they thought to be a rather large plothole during last night’s episode, as the soap’s survival week kicked off.

David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) joined the rest of the survivalists, and took part in many a challenge, in spite of the fact that last week, he wasn’t able to get out of bed.

The shop keeper, as viewers know, was involved a shooting several weeks ago, after Russ Posner took Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) and Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) hostage up at HOP.

David was also present, and he put himself in harms way in order to save Victoria, resulting in him getting shot.

He’s been in agony ever since, with sick Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) swapping out his medication for paracetamol to keep him at her beck and call.

Last week, he was unable to leave the house, which is why viewers were so shocked that he was well enough to partake in such dangerous and strenuous challenges last night.

‘Can I have some of what David was taking please?,’ wrote one confused fan. ‘He went from being bedridden in agony to doing energetic survival activities overnight!’

Another exclaimed: ‘So last week David was really ill and needed looking after to him now water rafting on an adventure.’

‘David seems to have a remarkable recovery,’ started another baffled viewer. ‘last week he could hardly move.’

‘Why is David still doing this when he should be recovering?’, one more said.

Last night’s episode ended with a bridge collapsing, resulting in Manpreet Sharma and Charles Anderson plummeting into the water below. David, meanwhile, was left clinging on for dear life.

Will he live to tell the tale?

Emmerdale continues Tuesday October 19 at 7pm on ITV.
