Ex-SAS: Who Dares Wins hard man’s ‘Rambo rampage with sawn-off shotgun’

Telly tough guy Ollie Ollerton has told how his childhood love of Rambo landed him in trouble with a sawn-off shotgun.

Ollie, 50, said: “I had a very sort of hands-on, alpha male-driven upbringing.

“It was all motorbikes and go-karts and all kinds of getting into trouble. Unfortunately, that did go too far when I got a sawn-off shotgun and went on a bit of a Rambo rampage.

“No-one got hurt, by the way.”

Ollie, who was on SAS: Who Dares Wins until being dropped from the Channel 4 series last year, said he wanted to be a hero like Sly Stallone’s film character.

He told Menkind podcast: “It sounds funny but Rambo came out and it was almost like my call to manhood.

“He was just an absolute legend, wasn’t he? He really inspired me to join the military because he was an ex-veteran, unstoppable.”

Ollie signed up to the Royal Marines at 18 and toured Northern Ireland and Iraq before joining the Special Boat Service – the Navy’s answer to the SAS.

Earlier this year, the star tied to knot with fiancée Laura Gander, 40, after they eloped in December 2020.

They married on his 50th birthday.

The pair had planned to have a James Bond-themed ceremony in July 2020, but their wedding was cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Not wanting to wait any longer, Ollie and Laura decided to travel to Scotland and get married at a secret wedding ceremony.

Speaking about their decision to elope to Gretna Green on December 27, Ollie admitted it was an "absolute mission" to pull off.

He told Hello magazine: "We defied all the odds and it was an absolute mission to pull it off. It was the year when it looked like we wouldn't be able to marry, and then we did.

"We did it on that day so I'll never forget our anniversary."

The lovebirds explained that their wedding could go ahead despite lockdown travel restrictions because government guidelines allowed them to travel across the border from England to Scotland.

Laura, who looked sensational in a dress by Ghost, said it was "quite surreal and stressful in the lead up" to the big day due to the ongoing changes caused by the pandemic.

She said she was "straight on to the Scottish government website checking out the restrictions", and discovered that they "could cross the border into Scotland if you were going there for a wedding".
