Good Morning Britain's Andi Peters shocks fans as he discloses age
Good Morning Britain’s Andi Peters revealed on today’s show that he’s turning 50 next week, and no one can quite believe it.
The presenter dropped his milestone birthday after calling an emotional competition winner, sending the Twittersphere into meltdown in the process.
‘Next week, it’s my 50th birthday,’ Andi told audiences.
‘We are going to make 50 winners in one day in a free to enter competition, so make sure you’re watching.’
Viewers were completely dumbfounded by Andi’s revelation, with many hitting up Google search to confirm he is in fact turning 50 on 29 July.
‘SHUT THE FRONT DOOR THAT @andipeters is going to be 50! Still had to google it.. still don’t believe you!! #stilllooks30,’ one fan penned in pure shock.
Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘Did @andipeters just say he was FIFTY next week? My actual goodness.
‘I mean I know it has to be true because I’ve been watching him since I was a kid but still? How?!’
Andi’s television career kicked off in the late 80s and his first major presenting role was on the kids show The Broom Cupboard, alongside This Morning’s Phillip Schofield.
He appeared on the series for just over four years and was accompanied by a hand puppet called Edd the Duck.
Andi then went on to host Live And Kicking with Emma Forbes and John Barrowman.
Earlier this month, Andi was confirmed to be stepping into Lorraine Kelly’s shoes as she takes a break, making him the first ever Black man to present the show.
‘I love Lorraine, I’ve known her for 10 years, I’m on her show every day with competitions and it’s great to be part of that family,’ he enthused.
‘So, sitting in for her is an honour, Lorraine is an institution.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
