Henry Cavill Says Zack Snyder Can Add More Superman To 'Justice League' Without Him
Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League just went from a $20 million post-production job to a $70 million reshoot. On Sept. 23, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Snyder was conducting reshoots with the cast. On Sept. 24, Henry Cavill told Collider that he was not reshooting anything.
The same day, the Happy Sad Confused podcast posted its interview with Cavill for Enola Holmes. Granted, they may have recorded with Cavill before Snyder came up with the reshoot plan, but Cavill also told host Josh Horowitz he’s not filming anything new. However, he knew how Snyder could add more to the movie even without him. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is coming to HBO Max in 2021.
Henry Cavill did not shoot four hours of ‘Justice League’
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be a four part miniseries totalling four hours. Horowitz asked Cavill if he filmed four hours’ worth of movie. Cavill reminded the hose that Superman is only resurrected halfway through the film.
“I didn’t because we know what happened to my character,” Cavill said.
Horowitz pressed Cavill on the length of the script. Were it a 250 page script, that could amount to four hours of screen time.
“Was it?” Cavill tried to remember. “It’s so long ago now. Everything that he shot is what he’s using. Of course, there are certain things you can add.”
Zack Snyder doesn’t need actors for ‘Justice League’ reshoots
Perhaps other cast members will join Snyder to film new scenes. Even if Cavill does not, he reminded Horowitz that they can create anything in visual effects, including Superman.
“Let’s talk about the opening of the movie with the invasion of Earth and some of the Gods defending Earth, etc.,” Cavill said. “Yeah, okay, that’s all CGI apart from a few characters. There’s stuff there which you can build in post. You can spend $600 million making CGI stuff. Yes, I would definitely say there’s a four and a half hour movie there. It’s in the can plus the stuff which they’re going to craft in post now.”
Henry Cavill still supports ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’
Cavill may have wrapped Justice League in his mind, but he still supports Snyder completing it his way. Joss Whedon had to fill in for reshoots when Synder experienced a family tragedy. Cavill believes this rare opportunity to complete Snyder’s vision is necessary.
I’m just really excited to see his vision realized. He got to be the train. I think it’s only fair that train gets to reach its station which he was aiming for. I think it’s important that that vision is realized. Whether you agree with it or not, it doesn’t matter. It’s a storyteller’s, it’s a filmmaker’s right to have that vision realized. I’m excited to see it. I’m excited to see what that vision was and how it looks. Especially, he’s got the advantage of hindsight now. It’s going to be even better. I just want to see a good movie.
