This Morning fans are used to seeing a host of more unconventional segments on the show and Monday morning’s instalment of the daytime show was no different. After kicking off proceedings today, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were joined by a worker at Linnanmaki’s Sea Life centre in Helsinki who explained how a fish named Mikko at the popular attraction had been eating all the other fish in his tank. However, she was pulled up on the supposed error, after she had believed the keeper was about to feed Mikko a Big Mac burger instead of a big mackerel fish. But, an ITV viewer had also spotted the phrase was worded the same on their TV subtitles which led Holly to tell her co-star Phil: “I told you!”
The pair joined guest Markus right at the start of the show where they were told the story of fish Mikko becoming “depressed” and eating all his friends.
However, as the keeper explained they had tried a number of tactics to stop the fish from eating other tank mates, Holly was soon left confused.
Going into his diet, the guest told the hosts he would be feeding Mikko with a “big mackerel” which he soon demonstrated live on-air.
But Holly was left baffled by what he had said, believing he had instead said he would be feeding the fish with a “Big Mac.”
Phillip pulled Holly up on her mistake after they’d ended the interview, saying: “Before we move on… a Big Mac?”
Holly exclaimed: “That that’s what I thought he said! – with Phillip adding: “Chucking a Maccy D’s in the tank, it’s only Monday… 10:06am!”
Later on, Holly was delighted when it seemed she wasn’t the only one who had misheard the show’s guest.
Drawing the attention back to Holly’s blunder, Phillip had a surprise for his co-star in store.
He said to viewers: “Earlier on, we were talking to Markus in Finland, he had Mikko the big fish who had eaten everything.
“And he said, ‘I’m going to feed him a mackerel for lunch,’ and you thought he said, ‘I’m going to feed him a Big Mac.’”
Holly interrupted her co-star and explained: “He said, A big mackerel,’ and I didn’t hear the ‘rel.’”
But Phillip left Holly stunned after showing a comment from a viewer, saying: “Twiddly has just got in touch with us and said, ‘The subtitles thought the same as Holly,’”

Phillip showed Holly a post sent in from a viewer on Twitter, with a picture of their TV attached, showing the subtitles reading: “I have a Big Mac meal for him.”
Holly gasped after seeing the snap, saying: “Oh my God, I told you! Who told you that, who sent that in?” Before Phillip reminded her of the user’s name.
“Twiddly, thank you!” Holly added – before they got on with presenting the rest of today’s programme.
And many of those watching at home also agreed with Holly today after her gaffe earlier on in the show.
Taking to Twitter, one commented: “It’s OK Holly I thought he said Big Mac too!”
“@hollywills @thismorning @Schofe Did Holly really think they fed that fish a Big Mac! That’s made my day lol #ThisMorning #bigmac.”
“Did Holly really think they fed that fish a Big Mac? That’s made my day,” added a third.
Another said: “Ironically after them saying that fish will be having a Big Mac there’s a McDonald’s ad on the thread #ThisMorning
