Hotel Transylvania: Transformania has one detail that is different to the others in the series: no Adam Sandler. While the accompanying short films and series in the Hotel Transylvania universe saw the main character voiced by someone else, this will be the first time he does not appear in one of the feature films. Here is everything you need to know about the film ahead of its release.
When is Hotel Transylvania: Transformania out in cinemas?
Hotel Transylvania 4 comes out in cinemas on July 23, 2021.
The film, like many others, has had its release date moved around at different stages due to the coronavirus.
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania was originally meant to be a Christmas release this year but instead, the film was moved forward to the summer, with an August 2021 release date.
Now, it has been pushed forward again, perhaps to try and entice loyal Hotel Transylvania fans back to the cinema sooner rather than later.

What is Hotel Transylvania: Transformania about?
The official synopsis reads: “When Van Helsing’s mysterious invention, the “Monsterfication Ray”, goes haywire, Drac and his monster pals are all transformed into humans, and Johnny becomes a monster!
“In their new mismatched bodies, Drac, stripped of his powers, and an exuberant Johnny, loving life as a monster, must team up and race across the globe to find a cure before it’s too late, and before they drive each other crazy.
“With help from Mavis and the hilariously human Drac Pack, the heat is on to find a way to switch themselves back before their transformations become permanent.”
Who is in the cast of Hotel Transylvania: Transformania?
Many characters from the beloved franchise make their return, including Drac, though his voice will sound a little different.
Adam Sandler, who has usually played Dracula, stepped away from the role and has been replaced by Brian Hull.
As yet, it is unknown why he quit the film and neither the team at Sony nor Adam himself have commented on this.
However, directors Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon told Screen Rant they saw this as an opportunity, given the plot of the film.
Derek said: “The fact that he turns into a human was a good opportunity to do things a little differently.
“He could be a little different than he was in the movies, and it would be natural.
“So, it kind of was the perfect movie to have a person come in and fill those shoes.”
Jennifer added: “We started with the design, and how do we make that character feel as different as possible.
“He’s not going to animate the same; he’s not going to look the same.
“And it felt like embracing Brian and, more specifically, embracing what the difference in that would be as a human. It felt like it was a great opportunity.”
Otherwise, many of the cast members are the same, including Selena Gomez as Mavis, Andy Samberg as Johnny, Kevin James as Frankenstein and Steve Buscemi as Wayne.
Keegan Michael-Key voices Murray, David Spade is Griffin, Molly Shannon is Wanda and Fran Drescher is Eunice.
Kathryn Hahn and Jim Gaffigan also reprise their roles as Ericka Van Helsing, now Ericka Dracula, and Van Helsing.
Is there a trailer for Hotel Transylvania: Transformania?
There is a trailer, which seems to tell a great deal of the story ahead of the film’s release.
But it also gives fans a glimpse of a human version of Drac, as well as Johnny as a monster.
