ITV sparks outrage for showing ad featuring squirrel 'humping' Lynx can

A Lynx advert has sparked outrage from parents after ITV screened a pre-watershed ad which featured a squirrel trying to mate with a can of deodorant.

The advert, which was aired during Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday night at around 8.45pm has sparked 155 complaints to ASA (The Advertising Standards Authority).

The advert was shown around 15 minutes before the traditional 9pm watershed, when more adult content is allowed.

A spokesperson for ASA told Metro.co.uk: ‘We 155 complaints about the Lynx TV ad featuring a squirrel behaving amorously with a deodorant can.

‘The general nature of the complaints is that the ad is offensive, is inappropriately scheduled and is unsuitable for children.’

The spokesperson went on to explain that the watchdog is currently assessing the complaints.

They continued: ‘No decision has been made on whether there are grounds for an investigation.’

The advert, which features heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua, takes us back to 1995 before a teenager is thrown through time to meet the girl he likes.

She sprays both of them with the deodorant before the can rolls to the excited squirrel.

And well we know what happens next.

Viewers quickly took to social media to share their anger at the advert,

One parent tweeted: ‘Lynx excuse me but why does your advert for Lynx Africa feature a squirrel doing unspeakable acts to a can of Lynx Africa.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted ITV and Lynx for comment.

Britain’s Got Talent continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
