Spoilers: EastEnders star confirms surprise new romance for Whitney?
EastEnders newcomer Isaac Baptiste has a lot to be angry about in Walford at the moment, having just found out that Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) is his father and he has been lied to.
And actor Stevie Basaula, who plays him, reckons that the anger is ‘totally justified’ when he spoke to Metro.co.uk. But there could be some more fun and enjoyable times on the horizon for him as he has been pondering who a love interest could be for his alter ego.
He told us: ‘Ooh who knows! I hope so. I think it would be interesting to see what his relationships are like with women. Because of the relationship he has with his mum – it will be interesting to see how that will affect any romantic relationships he may have.
‘It would be exciting to have a love interest. Will there be one? I don’t know. I would say Louisa Lytton (Ruby), or we saw him on the boat attempt to make a move on Whitney.
‘It didn’t go well for him but to be fair she did have other things on her mind, so would be interesting to see if anything could come from that situation.’
And viewers will soon see a new side to Isaac as he tutors young Tommy.
Stevie shared: ‘I think we’ve already started to see a different side to him when he’s in the school, he’s more sensitive and much more caring than we’ve seen him before and I think he really can be a good teacher because he’s probably able to understand them a lot better than other people because of his own childhood and the struggles that he faced at school so I think that makes him a really good teacher.’
But he added: ‘Yes there is a lot to unravel about his backstory, I think we’ll get to see why he is the way he is so far.’
Of course, there may be a long wait to find out with production having stopped on EastEnders. But Stevie revealed the cast are all staying in touch.
He smiled: ‘I’ve been speaking to some of the cast. We communicate of a weekly basis. I speak to Zack Morris quite a lot, we’ve become really cool friends and Milly Zero, we live not too far away from each other so we send each other messages. Suzette sends me a message every now and then, it’s really nice to check in on people and for people to check in on me.
‘I try to train when I can in the morning, training is really important to me, I think it just helps to keep me in a good mental space. If I do train in the morning I find that I have a better day. I try and not put too much pressure on myself to be creative, I’m just trying to enjoy.
‘Been binging a lot of TV which is always useful. Just keep taking each day as it comes, going with the flow. Understanding that there is going to be bad days, but understanding what makes the good days good so I can turn the bad ones around.’
