The Real Life Partners Of The Cast Of Loki
Since MCU’s “The Avengers” franchise came to a close and fans said goodbye to some seriously beloved characters and plotlines, Disney and Marvel have been on a roll when it comes to the next chapter of content. Following the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, phase four of the franchise is relying heavily on various limited series that follow MCU characters in their own adventures, or in the aftermath of their lives since earlier films. At least, that’s the case so far! Knowing Marvel, we’ll be getting more huge movies soon.
One of the characters introduced to audiences earlier was Loki. Viewers first met the trickster Demigod of Norse mythology in the “Thor” and “Avengers” franchises, but the character has garnered a cult following … and now a TV series. “Loki” will air on Disney+ in six parts starting June 9, per IMDb. While the cast of the show has obviously been busy filming “Loki” as well as with other projects outside of Marvel, what’s going on in their personal lives? Read on to find out who its stars are dating!
Tom Hiddleston is dating former co-star Zawe Ashton
Star of “Loki” Tom Hiddleston is usually pretty (no pun intended) low-key about his personal life and relationships. While the actor has been linked to celebrities like Jessica Chastain and Elizabeth Olsen (oh, and Taylor Swift), per Hello! Magazine, Hiddleston really hasn’t had that public of a dating history. But on Swift, the star was candid with Hollywood Reporter in 2016 on their summer fling, “Well, um. How best to put this? That notion is — look, the truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together and we’re very happy. Thanks for asking. That’s the truth. It’s not a publicity stunt.”
Unfortunately for Hiddleston, his time with Swift didn’t last too long. But as of 2020, there might be a new woman in his life. And it seems they’ve shacked up. The Sun reported that Hiddleston was seeing his West End co-star Zawe Ashton following their stint together on-stage in the show “Betrayal.”
“Tom and Zawe have stayed quiet about their relationship but she has spent the last few weeks with him in the US,” an inside source told the outlet in July 2020. “Their lives are typically very busy, so spending time together while not working has been something they have both embraced. Tom has made a home in Atlanta [Ga.] during lockdown and he is expecting to spend the rest of the year there [with Ashton].” He brought his “beloved” dog Bobby along too, per The Sun. So there’s that!
Owen Wilson is a single dad of three
Owen Wilson stars alongside Hiddleston in “Loki” as Mobius M. Mobius, an agent of the Time Variance Authority. But how is his personal life going? Wilson’s love life is a bit different from Hiddleston’s, in that he’s had several confirmed relationships in the past and he has three children. Wilson began dating musician and singer-songwriter Sheryl Crowe in 1999 and the pair lasted for two years, reported E! News.
Since then, Wilson has had a string of partners, and he’s had a child with multiple of them. He was tied to Jade Duell in 2011 and had a son, Robert, with her, but the pair broke up in the same year, per People. Next, the “Night at the Museum” star had a second son, Finn, with his former fitness trainer and ex-girlfriend Caroline Lindqvist according to Us Weekly. After having a third child, a baby girl named Lyla, with ex-girlfriend Varunie Vongsvirates, per Us Weekly. Wilson still hasn’t seemed to find the right person to settle down.
But according to the Daily Mail, by 2019 the “Wedding Crashers” star still hadn’t met his third daughter, though he was paying child support for her. Sheesh. Maybe playing dad would help the right one come along!
Gugu Mbatha-Raw is single and career-focused
Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays Ravonna Lexus Renslayer in Disney’s “Loki” series, and the actor is widely known for her starring role in “Black Mirror’s” iconic “San Junipero” episode, in which she played a single woman seeking virtual love. That said, the actor has kept pretty tight-lipped about her dating life in the real world.
While it’s known that the former “Belle” star dated “Game of Thrones'” Harry Lloyd for a few years, the two were no longer together by 2012, reported the Daily Mail. Since Mbatha-Raw and Lloyd’s split, the actor has not been linked to anyone seriously as of this writing. Instead of focusing on her dating life (or she’s extremely private), Mbatha-Raw is prioritized on nabbing the best roles in some of the most A-list-laden casts in Hollywood. “Loki” is just one of her upcoming projects, and we can’t wait to see what she’s doing next.
“It’s an actor’s responsibility [to] help the culture to evolve, and provoke conversations,” she told The Guardian. “It’s about keeping your soul nourished. About being able to hold your head up and have a conversation about your work. I don’t want to be a product.”
Wunmi Mosaku is married but wants people to focus on her work
Wunmi Mosaku is a relatively new face in the entertainment industry. The Nigerian-British actor had her breakout role in HBO’s “Lovecraft Country” as Ruby Baptiste, and now she’s playing Hunter B-15 in “Loki.” It turns out that Mosaku is married. Her husband works in the entertainment industry but is not an actor, and he seems to stay out of the spotlight, according to Vogue. They’re now based in Los Angeles, Calif.
Mosaku is probably an actor who wants the attention on her star power and not on her love life, which we can totally understand, and she’s not the only actor who does this. “Insecure’s” Issa Rae is engaged to her long-time boyfriend Louis Dame, but keeps her relationship with her husband “under wraps” so that her career and endeavors in film and TV can be the focus, according to Ebony. “I get so much feedback about everything,” Rae told Marie Claire. “The one thing I don’t need feedback on is who I’m sleeping with.”
This seems to be a new trend with some of the newer faces in Hollywood, Mosaku included. Their private lives are theirs and not for public fodder.
Richard E. Grant has been married for three decades
Ah, Richard E. Grant. He is yet another British actor who has found a role for himself in Disney’s newest series, “Loki.” The acting legend plays an unknown role in the TV show, but he’s sure to do well with the character given that he’s won a SAG Award and has been nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA, and a Golden Globe Award, per IMDb.
But the truly amazing thing about Grant is that he’s been married to his wife, Joan Washington, since 1986, according to the Daily Mail. While Washington isn’t an actor, it turns out that she and her husband are in a similar line of work. Washington is a dialect coach, and the pair actually met in 1982, because she was teaching an accent session at an acting school. Somehow, with all the limelight and star power that Grant brings to the table, he and Washington have been able to make their relationship work for decades, and they’re still going strong.
“My parents were divorced when I was 11 and it made such a profound impression on my life that I suppose I thought that by not getting married, you could avoid your life being carved in two,” Grant told The Independent (via Daily Mail.) “But [through Joan] that changed.” Aw!
