The pair are kept busy on their various shows, including Make Do and Mend and Escape to the Chateau: DIY. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about Dick and Angel’s work histories.
What did Dick and Angel do for work?
Escape to the Chateau follows Dick and Angel who bought the 19th-century Château de la Motte-Husson in Martigné-sur-Mayenne in France back in 2015.
They paid just £280,000 for the chateau, which had no electricity, heating or water as it had not been lived in for 40 years.
Over the years they have transformed it into a beautiful home and venue for weddings and other events.
Documenting their journey on Escape to the Chateau has brought them international fame.
Angel, from East London, is the founder of the hospitality company, Vintage Patisserie.
She made one of her first TV appearances on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den back in 2010, with her idea for the business.
Angel managed to win over Dragons Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis and she was given a hefty investment to launch the project.
The venture offers vintage-inspired wedding catering and planning.
As for husband Dick, he is a former Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army.
He received a commission in the Army in 1979 and joined the Royal Corps of Signals the following year.
Just over a year after this, he was promoted to Lieutenant and then to Captain in 1985.
He received the title of Lieutenant Colonel in June 1999 and left the Army two years later, in 2001.
In 1993 he was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for his service in Northern Ireland.
Following his time in the army, he utilised his engineering knowledge on various TV shows.
He could be seen on It’s Not Easy Being Green, Scrapheap Challenge and Coast.
As for how he met Angel – the pair both clocked each other at an event Dick had hosted after he was signed by the same TV agent as Angel.
She attended the event at a pop-up restaurant and it is understood it was love at first sight.
Five years after they first met, they bought their French chateau, which is now believed to be worth about £2million.
The family keeps fans updated on their latest ventures via social media and they have been keeping very busy.
In one of their recent posts, Dick was seen teaching his children – Dorothy and Arthur – how to make jam.
Dorothy had a cheeky lick of the spoon as she and her brother were shown the ropes in the kitchen.
One fan commented: “I love your DIY series! It’s such an inspiration and I love Dick’s narratives. Hope it continues!
“Seeing Arthur and Dorothy grow up throughout the Chateau series is marvellous.”
Escape To The Chateau is available to watch on ALL4.
