When is season two of Netflix's Never Have I Ever coming out?

 Mindy Kaling's 2020 coming of age dramedy Never Have I ever proved to be a smash hit on Netflix.

The semi autobiographical sitcom, provides viewers with a window into South Asian life, breaking typical tropes about the Indian community on TV.The showhas been renewed for a second season which is set to air soon.

When is Never Have I Ever season 2 coming out on Netflix?

The second season of Never Have I ever is set to air on Netflix in July 2021.

The show's air date in July has not yet been announced, but every episode will be released at once, so viewers can binge watch at their pleasure as soon as the teen sitcom is released.

Never Have I Ever was renewed for a second season in July 2020.

The show's creator, Mindy Kaling shared the news on Instagram.

What happened in Never Have I Ever season 1?

Season 1 of Never Have I ever saw main character, 15-year-old Devi Vishwakumar ( played Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), experience the death of her beloved father, an incident that led to the high schooler temporarily losing all feeling in her legs.

Confined to a wheelchair for the first episode of the show, the teenager from Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, is socially outcasted by her peers.

But Devi aims to change her social status in school, with friends, family and boys getting in the way.

The shows first season followed the Indian teen as she grew increasingly frustrated at life under her mother's thumb, experienced fallouts with her closest friend and struggled to deal with her cultural identity.

The final episode culminated with Devi reconciling with her mother, Nalini (Poorna Jagannathan) and two best friends, Eleanor (Ramona Young) and Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) in an emotionally charged conclusion to the show.

The final moments also saw Fabiola embrace her sexuality and, in a thrilling twist, Devi rejected her high school crush, Paxton's advances (Darren Barnet), in favour of her nemesis turned friend, Ben (Jaren Lewison).

What will happen in Never Have I Ever season two?

Season two of the teen comedy-drama welcomes several new faces into the Never Have I Ever roster.

It was revealed that Megan Suri would be joining the show as Aneesa, a fellow high schooler who poses an immediate threat to Devi, with her confidence and radiance.

Suri has previously worked on Netflix show's Atypical and 13 Reasons Why.

Also joining the cast is American Vandal's Tyler Alvarez.

He reportedly joins Never Have I Ever in a recurring role as Malcolm, a teen actor who returns to school after being cast in a Disney Channel show.

Malcolm is described by Netflix officials as "a ‘Young Hollywood’ type” who went to elementary school with Devi and her friends but left when he was cast in a Disney Channel show,"

"He’s recently returned to Sherman Oaks High whilst continuing his acting career.".

The second season will also see Devi's mother, Nalini, finding love with a rival dermatologist, played by Common.

The show's protagonist will also be working on her anger issues in the second season.

Mindy Kaling told ELLE:  “[Devi’s] figuring out how not to rage out, because that’s her problem. She has this really bad temper. And seeing if she actually does end up having a boyfriend, or whether she can even be a good girlfriend to these guys.”
