Yasuke is Netflix’s latest anime series. The show is loosely based on a real historical figure of the same name, with the show taking inspiration from real events, combining them with fiction. The show brings together a talented cast, but who is in the show?

Who is in the cast of Yasuke?

Yasuke is an upcoming Japanese anime-inspired Netflix production that will drop this week on April 29.

The series synopsis reads: “He came from Africa and fought alongside a mighty feudal lord in brutal 16th century Japan. They called him the Black Samurai, and he became a legend.”

Inspired by the historical figure of the same name, he was a warrior of African descent who served under Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga 16th century Japan.

A variety of notable voice actors are starring in the role, led by an actor that has starred in several Hollywood blockbusters.

Yasuke – LaKeith Stanfield

Yasuke is the warrior that served in Japan during the 16th century, played by LaKeith Stanfield.

Stanfield has starred in blockbusters and critically acclaimed TV shows alike.

The star has been a regular character in Atlanta, playing Darius.

Some of his film credits include the Oscar-nominated Judas and the Black Massiah, Knives Out, Sorry to Bother You, and Selma.

Stanfield will lead the voice-cast, being the only cast member to appear in all six episodes of the series.

Along the way, he will encounter various characters that will challenge him.

Kurosawa – Noshir

Little is known about this character; despite the fact he is a Dark General Yasuke will face.

Noshir Dalal, who voices the character is a well-established voice actor working across video games and TV.

He will be appearing in Disney’s Star Wars: The Bad Batch and has worked in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

Other notable voice actors in Yasuke include Dan Donohue (playing Abraham), Dia Frampton (Ishikawa) and Takehiro Hira (Nobunaga).

Other Netflix produced animated projects include BoJack Horseman, Big Mouth and Love, Death and Robots.

Yasuke is planned to be a self-contained mini-series.

Yasuke will premiere exclusively on Netflix on April 29.
