An American Airlines flight attendant has accused British celebrity chef Mark Sargeant of sexually assaulting her during a work trip – and is suing her employer for allegedly covering up her claims.

Kimberly Goesling, 52, of Fort Worth, Texas, says she was assaulted by the TV star after he forced his way into her hotel room during the visit to Germany in 2018.

Goesling, who has worked for the airline for 30 years, filed her suit in January 2020 against Sargeant and her bosses. She went public with her allegations this week.

The airline has said they severed ties with the Michelin-starred chef following the allegations but the suit claims they ‘discouraged [Goesling] from further reporting the incident’.

Goesling told NBC: ‘They’ve deposed my best friends. They reached out and deposed my ex-boyfriend. I want an apology. I’d like to sit down and talk to our leaders to find out what happened. What went wrong?’

Goesling’s attorney Rob Miller said: ‘American’s literature says, ‘You see something, report it. We’ll protect you. We’ll take care of you. We don’t tolerate bad behavior.’ Well, that’s what they say but they did exactly the opposite in this case.’

Sargeant, who has worked alongside Gordon Ramsay, is said to have knocked on Goesling’s hotel room door in the early hours after sending inappropriate text messages.  He then sexually assaulted her, Goesling claims.

DailyMail.com has contacted Sargeant’s company and American Airlines for comment.

The suit says he had been drinking with American Airlines’ managers prior to the incident.

It claims the airline knew of his alleged alcohol abuse and inappropriate sexual relationships and a representative first asked her ‘What were you wearing?’ during a conversation about the alleged attack.

Goesling, who had been in Germany helping the airline pick a new menu for international flights told NBC: ‘It wasn’t like a light knocking. It was (like) something was wrong, somebody needed something.

‘I remember going to the door and thinking, ‘Wow, it’s him!’

‘That’s when he forced his way into my room.’

Attorney Miller added: ‘American is responsible because it hired the predator, it provided the alcohol he drank and then its managers encouraged him to go to Kimberly’s room.

‘In fact, we’ll be able to show that this predator only had Kimberly’s hotel room number because a member of American’s management team gave it to him.’

Sargeant he was not criminally charged, Dallas News reports.

Goesling said her attempts to report the crime to Fort Worth police were also unsuccessful as the alleged incident occurred in a foreign country.

After filing her complaint anonymously Goesling has since decided to go public with her allegations.

She told former Fox host Gretchen Carlson: ‘At the end of the day, I’m not Jane Doe. I’m Kimberly Goesling.

‘I am done. I am no longer going to hide from what happened because I’m not the bad guy and I have nothing to hide from. If anyone should be hiding, it’s American and not me.’

American Airlines said in a statement to DailyMail.com: ‘American has an unwavering commitment to its team members. Immediately after the incident was reported, we conducted an investigation and severed our business relationship with the accused individual.

‘Ms. Goesling remains a valued member of our team.’

A trial on the matter is scheduled for July; American have asked for a delay.
