Best ending for the ISIS prison break
A handful of ISIS thugs broke out of captivity in northeast Syria over the weekend, an unwelcome reminder that their particular plague is only in check, not yet eradicated from the face of the Earth.
According to the Syrian Democratic Forces, the outfit that runs the Ghweran prison in Hasakah, an entire building of ISIS detainees rioted Sunday, seizing control of the first floor and using torn-off doors to break down a wall.
The Kurdish-led SDF are under stress, as Turkish forces invaded Syria largely to eliminate them. Yet the SDF at various makeshift jails still holds up to 12,000 ISIS veterans that no sane person wants released.
With aerial surveillance help from US forces, the jailors expect to capture any ISIS killers who managed to actually escape the prison compound.
If any do make it out, here’s hoping the coronavirus gets them.
