Pregnant wife heroically fights off 9ft SHARK that attacked her bloodied husband as he snorkeled on a reef
A PREGNANT wife heroically fought off a nine-foot shark that attacked her bloodied husband on Sunday morning.
Margot Dukes-Eddy, 29, fearlessly jumped to help her 30-year-old husband, Andrew Charles Eddy, when a shark bit his shoulder in the Florida Keys, witnesses said.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Andrew was attacked by the shark while snorkeling on a reef at Sombrero Key Light over the weekend.
“Dukes saw the shark’s dorsal fin and then blood filling the water," Deputy Christopher Aguanno stated in his report, according to the Miami Herald.
"Without hesitation, she dove into the water and pulled Eddy to the safety of the boat. The family called 911.”
Andrew made his way off the boat and into the water at approximately 10.30am on Sunday – wearing snorkel goggles and flippers on.
That was when his wife jumped in to help her husband.
After the incident, Andrew was taken to Sombrero Beach to wait for deputies and paramedics.
He was then airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center as he sustained a severe injury to his shoulder.
Witnessed told the Miami-Herald that the shark appeared to be a bull shark.
Deputies were told by nearby boaters that they had spotted an “eight or nine foot bull shark."
The MCSO said there were no other reported injuries and there was no fishing or chumming in the water where the people were snorkeling.
Andrew and his wife were with family on a private boat during their snorkeling excursion.
Sheriff Rick Ramsay praised the quick actions of the first responders who arrived on scene.
He said: “This was a very rare medical crisis for the Florida Keys, but everyone came together — including those witnesses on the boat to 911 Communicators to all our emergency responders — in order to ensure this victim received life-saving care.
