“The NHS has faced danger every day through the pandemic and we are proud to serve our country again and stand alongside them.
“It’s a hugely sensitive and distressing time for families when you lose a loved one.
“We ensure they are cared for and have the respect and dignity as if they were our own families.
“The men and women who are doing this are some of Britain’s bravest volunteers – many of us are furloughed and as soon as this happened we all wanted to help.
“Of course it’s it’s emotional work – there have been some who have really stood out for me personally, when they are young or approaching their 100th birthday and there have also been homeless people – and their plight still hasn’t really been highlighted in all of this.
“It has been the most moving job I have ever done.”
Team Rubicon UK Team Response Operations Manager Paul Taylor, a former Warrant Officer in the Royal Fusiliers, said: “There are 118 veterans and 28 civilians, many of whom are former blue light responders who have selflessly volunteered to do this difficult role all over the country.

“Our role is to respond to disasters all over the world – and at this time our services, sadly have been needed here. We are proud to do this for our country.”
